Description:

Sagardighi of Kamalarani is a large reservoir located in Baniachong Upazila of Habiganj District, Bangladesh. Built on 66.00 acres of land, this dam is awarded as the second largest reservoir in the country in terms of volume. This lake was dug by the local feudal lord Padmanabha.

History:

Dighi of Kamala Rani built 700 years ago is located in Moulvibazar. It is known as Sagardighi and is a historical place in Rajnagar area. Kamlarani Dighi or Sagar Dighi is located in Rajnagar Police Station of Moulvibazar District.

The area of this lake is 12 acres 12 bigha 12 poa 12 chhatka area. Shah Qutb Uddin (RA), one of the traveling companions of Shahjalal (RA) and one of the 360 Auliyas, lies in eternal sleep on the western side of Dighi. Devotees gather from all over the country to visit his shrine.

Poet Jasimuddin Baniachang once wrote a poem called 'Rani Kamalavati's Dighi', which is part of his introductory collection of poems, to enjoy the natural environment and beauty of Nayanaviram Sagardighi when he came to visit.

How to be here

Buses leave for Durgapur directly from Dhaka Mohakhali Bus Terminal There are 2 buses named Sarkar and Jinnat. You can basically go to Sukhnagari by these buses A small river has to be crossed by boat from Sukhnagari. Then go to Durgapur by rickshaw 70 to 80 taka, bus 20 taka and motorcycle 100 taka. If you want to go by train, you have to go to Shyamganj train station by Haor Express train at 11:50 from Dhaka. Or you can come to Netrakona by train and return from Challisha Bazar by motorbike for 300 taka per person. Besides, you can go to Durgapur by trawler, auto, CNG. After reaching Rajnagar Bazar from Moulvibazar, one can travel towards Sagar Dighi by rickshaw, auto rickshaw or bus using Rajnagar-Balaganj road.
