Sangu or Shongkho river is the most attractive and beautiful hill side river in Bandarban. The river gives a natural view of the beautiful hills and ceaseless flow of water together. The river bank is full of green trees and bushes and sometimes it hosts tribal villages. The river is surrounded by green hills and the water is clean and soothing. It has rocks and stones in its way. The main source of Sangu River is in the North Arakan Hills of Myanmar. 173 kelometres of its total length are located within Bangladesh which flows North through Thanchi, Rowangchhari and Bandarban Sadar Upazilas of Bandarban District and then flows West through Banshkhali and Satkania Upazilas in Chittagong District and then finally falls into the Bay of Bengal. A trip to Bandarban is not complete without this great boat experience. But it is not safe to have this boat trip in rainy days as it develops rapid currents during rains. But in winter it contains very peaceful stream. Tourists can enjoy the river while going to Rijhuk Jharna.
